Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is the service that Matchory offers?
Matchory offers a technology-based, automated supplier search. Matchory uses several billion data points with specific supplier information, which can be evaluated using state-of-the-art technology such as Artificial Intelligence. Matchory identifies and compares relevant suppliers in all markets and industries worldwide. Matchory thus supports strategic procurement in particular by providing an optimized and efficient supplier search. The user has either the possibility to assign Matchory directly with the supplier search for individual projects. Furthermore, Matchory offers a direct database access as a subscription model, which is available to the user to carry out sourcing projects independently.
Is any special knowledge required to use Matchory?
In general, no special previous knowledge is required. To create a project, the user only needs to know the specific requirements. These are among others relevant keywords to the product, required certificates, known reference suppliers (if available). The Matchory technology will then create a supplier longlist that fits exactly to the requirements of the project. However, certain industry knowledge can be beneficial when using the Matchory database in order to search for results in a more targeted manner and to be able to evaluate them more quickly.
What are the advantages of the technology-based supplier search with Matchory compared to the traditional, manual supplier search?
Through the data-based search, much more data can be included in a search query. Complex calculation methods can be used to generate cross-connections between these data points, which are not possible with the manual search. In a fraction of the time previously used, up to 100x more suitable suppliers can be identified and compared
Is there a focus on specific suppliers or industries?
There is a focus on suppliers of physical products whose manufacturing processes are used in their production. This is due, among other things, to the selection of the data sources included, e.g. the evaluation of customs data. Direct manufacturers in particular, but also distributors and retailers, are listed as suppliers. There is no industry-specific focus. Suppliers in all industries can be identified, from raw materials to special technologies to consumer goods.
What data is used for the automated supplier search?
Matchory uses a variety of different data sources of supplier information. These mainly include public data (digital footprint of a supplier), such as website information, data from trade registers or customs data. This information is continuously queried and processed accordingly in the Matchory database. In total, several million suppliers can be compared in real time.
Can I see the suppliers of other companies with Matchory?
Yes, but with limitations. Supply chains can be mapped by evaluating global customs data. However, there are various restrictions here. For example, only some countries (such as the US) currently publish this information. Nevertheless, valuable conclusions can be drawn from this data, which brings significant transparency into an intransparent market. For example, this data can be used to identify leading manufacturers and provide deep insights into global supply chains.
How does artificial intelligence contribute to the Matchory supplier sourcing?
Artificial intelligence is an essential component of database and search technology. By using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the supplier search is continuously trained and improved over time. This produces much more accurate results and allows the system to be customized to the user.
Can suppliers be searched globally?
Yes. The Matchory supplier database includes several million suppliers covering all global markets. Major markets are Europe, Asia, North and South America. Matchory always follows a global search approach to achieve the best possible results and to provide the user with general market information first. The results can then be narrowed down regionally.
Is there an API or interfaces to other systems?
Yes, the Matchory database provides a general interface that can be directly connected to other systems.
Which criteria can be considered in the search?
The search is based on keywords. Basically, every information that is relevant for a specific sourcing case can be taken into account. This includes product terms, specific manufacturing processes, materials, relevant certifications, customs tariff numbers, and much more. In addition, known suppliers can be entered as a reference, for which suppliers with a similar profile will be identified (eg second source scouting).
